Dedicated to our faithful friends
The grief we feel after loss of a beloved pet, while undeniably painful, seems to be a small price to pay for the loyalty, devotion and friendship we share with one of God's creatures.  Our animal friends have a much shorter time on earth than us, meaning that when we make room in our hearts and homes for an animal, chances are we are going to have to say good-bye some day.  Having that knowledge never seems to make the experience any less traumatic.  Many experience the anguish of loss several times in their lives.  We try to do the best we can for our loyal pals during the short time they are with us, with the hope that we will be graced with their company again in eternity.  This page is dedicated to those whose presence we miss, but whose love we continue to feel.

THE DOGS WHO HAVE SHARED OUR LIVES

The dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometime, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

The Legend of Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Cat Poem

They will not go quietly, the cats who've shared our lives. In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.

Old habits still make us think we hear a meow at the door. Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be, And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.

And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill, That one place in our hearts belongs to them. . . and always will.
